Book Review: Half-Blood By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Description:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
My Thoughts:
Let me just cut to the chase and tell you right now the reason for only 3 stars out of 5...

I felt the story wasn't original, that I was reading a different form of "The Vampire Academy" by Richelle Mead. Mead's books first came out in 2007 and this book was published in 2011. If you like Mead's vampire academy books then you'll like this one because honestly...it's basically the exact same thing...

There really isn't too much to say about this book especially if you are familiar with Richelle Mead's series.

Lets see if I can condense this for you... Girl leaves school, has to come back, almost kicked out saved by someone who says they will train her to catch up on what's shes lost or be kicked out...Guy trainer and of course is the forbidden love of girl's life. Sparks fly as training goes on. Forbidden love almost makes them do the naughty, naughty. Hot head girl gets in trouble, guy trainer saves her after girl saves the day...Then End...

I didn't connect emotionally with the characters but overall, still enjoyed the story even though it's practically the vampire academy.

Sexual Contend: Moderate (PG-13)
Language: Moderate
Violence: Moderate (PG-PG-13 due to zombie like creature fights)
Drugs/Alcohol: mild (PG)
