About Bekah

Oh Geez, bios are always weird for me cause as much as I can TALK about my self it's another thing to sit down and write up a little blurb on yourself.
I am a stay-at-home mother of 2, in love with my husband besides consuming myself in books I cook mostly treats because I love to make other people happy and fat! I also do photography on the side. My favorite foods are anything with grease, fried, and slathered in butter. I would rather each a big fat juicy cheese burger, bacon, greasy pizza, onion rings, or cheese fries (with nacho cheese or cheese sauce no real cheese) than anything else in the world.
I try to run and have hated it all my life until recently I started to semi enjoy it and when I do run, I need to listen to angry music to keep me going.
I have a obsession with shoes and married a man who knows my shoe size and surprises me with either of my 3 favorite things, cheeseburgers, shoes, or a book.
I started reading in 10th grade when my English teacher had us read "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" by Stephen King which made me realize there is something past the first chapter!

About Kris

Well hello there, bookmigos! My name is Kris and I am a book nut. I've been invited to add some craziness to this blog (because apparently, you're not nutty enough. Tsk tsk.)
I know Bekah from way, way back many centuries ago. Or maybe just last decade. Bekah and I lived in the same area in Florida. We had a class together and spent many mornings goofing off instead of listening to our teacher. Shame on us. I moved to Utah during my senior year of high school and lost touch with my Florida friends, but thanks to the magic of Facebook, I found Bekah again and we have bonded over our mutual love (or hate) of books. Yay for books!
Bekah invited me to join her blog because I am a very picky reader. Some of the books she reads and loves, I read and despise with every fiber in my wee frozen little heart. I'm not sure we've found a book that I love and she hates yet, but I'm sure we'll get there eventually. I'm going to be her back up or her nemesis, or possibly both. So now you get twice the reviews for half the price! Sweet!
A little about myself: I live in Utah. I am 27. I am married and have a 6 year old son with autism. My boy is absolutely brilliant and already a great lover of books - although he is only in kindergarten, he reads on a 4th grade level. Definitely my own child.
I am a writer myself. I have written four novels, though I haven't been published yet. I live to read. I currently attend Brigham Young University, where I am majoring in English and minoring in Editing.  My goal is to get my Master's Degree in Creative Writing and write Young Adult novels, while also becoming a professional editor/proofreader for a publishing house. Last year I had an internship with Cedar Fort Publishing, where I read incoming manuscripts and decided if we wanted to publish them or not. It was the best fake job I've ever had.
When I'm not ignoring schoolwork and housework in favor of a good book, I can be found watching movies and/or binge-viewing Netflix, playing the piano, eating, or spending hours messing around on the Interwebs.
I'd list my favorite books, but there are just too many. Instead, you can peruse my Goodreads profile. I can also be found at my personal blog and, of course, Pinterest.
Read on, fellow readers!

About Nicole

Hi. My name is Nicole. And I'm a bookaholic.

Hello, Nicole.

I've come to this blog because a fellow bookaholic recognized the symptoms in me and invited me along. I'm here for book support.

Welcome, Nicole

And by "book support" I mean I come searching for more books to read.

That's--wait, what?

Yeah, that's what support groups do, right? Help each other...?

You mean you're looking for an enabler?

Right! Exactly! I'm looking for a blog that will help me connect to other bookaholics who like similar books and we can discuss those books. And read more. I need an enabler.

You do realize that enabler has a bad connotation, don't you?

What do I care as long as I find good books because of it?

...

So...

Well, I guess you should introduce yourself...?

Right. I'm Nicole.

Hello, Nicole.

Yeah, you did that already.

...

So I'm Nicole and I read. A lot. When I'm not running after my three sons under the age of 6 (!) you can find me doing one of three things: Reading, writing or singing. I currently have an obsession with YA dystopian fiction but who doesn't right now? It's everywhere.

I like to pretend that I read many other genres as well--biographies, memoirs, classics--but I'd probably just read YA all the time if I didn't feel guilty when talking to smart friends. That conversation usually goes something like this:

Me: So what are you reading right now?

Smart Friend: This book written by a pair of married journalists who travel the world documenting cases of extreme poverty and all the ways in which women are used and taken advantage of. It's really one of those pieces that gets you thinking and makes you want to give all your money and possessions away. What about you?

Me: Um, well... A book about an angel and a demon that fall in love in the midst of crazy battles and alternate universes. It's one of those pieces that gets me thinking about lovey-dovey stuff and makes me want to make out with my husband.

...

Ahem. So I try to read to a variety of genres.

At the moment I live the Washington, DC area. I say "at the moment" because I move. A lot. Most recently I moved from Mexico City, Mexico (yes, the country of Mexico) to DC. I met both Bekah and Kris way back in the day in Florida. And I will probably move again in the near future. And forevermore. So be it.

And that's me.

Well, that was--to be truthful--it wasn't very informative at all. Is that all you're going to tell us?

What are you talking about? I just said a lot of words.

But you only really told us, like, three things: You read, you have three kids and you live in DC.

I think that's enough for now. Become an enabler and you'll learn a lot more about me.

But--

That was a nice first meeting! Usually when I have a conversation with myself it's much snarkier. I do hope we'll get to enabling each other's book habits soon enough!

Over and out.

About Shannon

I've never been good at these, so humor me.

I’m Shannon, a 26 year old NC to VA transplant and now stay-at-home mom who hopes to go back to school very soon for a teaching degree (specifically: elementary education).

The first book that I fell in love with was Peter Pan, and I love it just as much now as I did then.
I read a pretty wide variety of genres, but my favorites are Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and Classics.  I also read a lot of YA, but (don’t stone me please) I feel like a lot, but certainly not all, of YA is not suitable for the technical age range that YA encompasses.  I still read a whole lot of it though!  I would never be able to tell you my favorite book because I don’t think it’s possible to have just one, and I have so many that I love that we’d be here all day.  My to-read list is a mile long and I know I will never be able to read all of the books on the list, mainly because I can’t stop adding books to it.  Seriously, every time I get on Goodreads, I add like 10 more books.

Interests outside of reading include running 5k's if/when I can (I like them, but the feeling is not mutual apparently), gardening, cooking/baking, decorating my house, sometimes I even enjoy cleaning it (gasp!), listening to music, going to the gym (when I can find the time), and spending time with my little family.

Bekah and I met through our husbands and quickly got caught up talking about baking sweets and books.  That was about a year and a half ago, but friendships are not determined by the length of time, but by the ties that bind.
