Book Review: The Elite - By: Kiera Cass

Book Description:
Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

My Thoughts:
I am being WAY TOO generous when I gave this book 4 stars, it probably deserved more like 3 but I needed to be fair because my rating are mostly run on how books are played on my emotions.

I like this series because I like abc show 'The Bachelor & The Bachelorette' they are hilarious shows, and I like drama books or movies/television so I like this series. The whole general idea of this series is fun, pure and simple.

Sometimes in YA, sequels can be a bit of a disappointment but, and in my opinion this was one of them.

The main character America was the reason for that and she bothered me to the point I wish I could reach in the book and just SLAP that wench! GEEZ!!! She was emotional, irrational, over analytical, and just plain ridiculous at times!
What happened to the awesome, strong willed, opinionated America from the first book?!  Instead I get this?! REALLY?! She redeemed herself in some parts and for that I can forgive her. To be fair we can all be idiots at times-especially when it comes to guys, right?!

I felt the love triangle was a waste of time and energy. There wasn't a need for it, I felt the author could have made the whole "love" part of the book a whole lot more interesting if she left Mr. 3rd wheel over here-Aspen out! Aspen was just a waste of space!

I REALLY grew to LOVE Maxon (the Prince) in this book, you find more of his TRUE character in this book, see his struggles, desires, and hopes for himself, others, and his kingdom. I became even MORE of a Team Maxon in this book!

Overall I enjoyed the book because I love the idea of the book. I hope the story REALLY gets more involved in what's going on OUTSIDE of the kingdom than what's going on inside in the upcoming book (NEXT YEAR grrrr).
