Some of My Favorite Children's Books

As a young mother I am trying to collect books that I want my children to read, and in my search I've come across MANY that are just AWESOME that I can't put all of them on here so to start here are some children's books that I would recommend to ANYBODY that are worth owning:

 The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, is one of the very few sets of books that should be read three times: in childhood, early adulthood, and late in life. In brief, four children travel repeatedly to a world in which they are far more than mere children and everything is far more than it seems. Richly told, populated with fascinating characters, perfectly realized in detail of world and pacing of plot, the story is infused throughout with the timeless issues of good and evil, faith and hope. This edition includes all seven volumes.

Any book by Roald Dahl is fun and enjoyable. They are filled will cute kids and funny grownups. You can't go wrong with anything Roald Dahl

Gail Carson Levine's examination of traditional female roles in fairy tales takes some satisfying twists and deviations from the original. Ella is bound by obedience against her will, and takes matters in her own hands with ambition and verve. Her relationship with the prince is balanced and based on humor and mutual respect; in fact, it is she who ultimately rescues him. Ella Enchanted has won many well-deserved awards, including a Newbery Honor.

Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

Set during the pioneer days of the late 1800s and early 1900s, Laura Ingalls Wilder's books chronicle her life growing up on the Western frontier. A boy named Percy always knew he was different and being diagnosed with ADHA and dyslexia doesn't help. Then he finds out he is a demigod. Through a series of adventures it's up to Percy and his friends to save the world and help the Gods with their missions! 





The Heroes of Olympus is a continuation of the Percy Jackson series, the series is a still being written, the 4th book is due to come out this year 2013.
